A sterile, soft nonwoven dressing, pad or ribbon, made of highly absorbent and gel-forming polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibres coated on both sides with silver sulphate. Exufiber Ag+ has high absorption and retention capacity of wound exudate and maintains a moist wound environment. The structural integrity of Exufiber Ag+ supports removal in one piece. In contact with liquid, Exufiber Ag+ releases silver ions and inactivates a variety of wound related pathogens such as bacteria, fungi and moulds, as has been shown in vitro. By reducing the number of microorganisms, Exufiber Ag+ can prevent and reduce the formation of bacterial biofilm, as shown in vitro and in vivo. Exufiber Ag+ can be used as an effective barrier against microbial penetration of the dressing.
In vitro testing demonstrates that Exufiber Ag+ kills a wide range of known wound pathogens and creates an antimicrobial environment within the dressing. Exufiber Ag+ gives a ≥4 log reduction, in the dressing, of the following Gram positive bacteria, Gram negative bacteria and fungi through seven (7) days in in vitro studies. By reducing the number of micro-organisms, Exufiber Ag+ may also reduce dressing odour. Gram positive species: Enterococcus faecalis (VRE), Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pyogenes. Gram negative species: Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter cloacae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Fungal species: Candida guilliermondii, Candida tropicalis, Candida albicans, Aspergillus fumigatus.

Soft, sterile non-woven dressing made from two layers of 1.2% ionic silver-impregnated Hydrofiber; sodium carboxymethylcellulose and enhanced with More Than Silver antibiofilm technology, stitched together with cellulose-strengthening fibres. Absorbs wound fluid, and disrupts and breaks down biofilm to expose and kill bacteria, while preventing biofilm re-formation. Provides nine times stronger tensile strength and 50% greater absorption than Aquacel Ag.
