Melgisorb Ag
Antimicrobial dressings Mölnlycke

Melgisorb Ag

A highly absorbent, sterile, non woven, antimicrobial pad composed of a high G (guluronic acid) calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and an ionic silver complex (Silver Sodium Hydrogen Zirconium Phosphate) which releases silver ions in the presence of wound exudate. As wound exudate is absorbed the alginate forms a gel, which aids autolytic debridement, whilst maintaining a moist environment for optimal wound healing. The gel ensures intact removal, without damage to healing tissue. The silver ions released in the presence of wound exudate are an effective antimicrobial agent against a broad spectrum of microorganisms frequently associated with the bacterial colonisation and infection of wounds, for up to twenty-one (21) days, based on in-vitro testing. Melgisorb Ag can also reduce the odour of infected wounds as a result of its effective antimicrobial properties. Melgisorb Ag is an effective barrier to penetration by microorganisms. As the Melgisorb Ag contains alginate, it may assist in supporting the control of minor bleeding in superficial wounds. This product can also be used under compression bandages.

Indications

Melgisorb Ag is indicated for use in the management of all moderate to heavily exuding partial to full thickness wounds including: - post-operative wounds - trauma wounds (dermal lesions, trauma injuries or incisions) - leg ulcers - pressure ulcers - diabetic ulcers - graft and donor sites - cavity wounds - Superficial and partial thickness burns As the Melgisorb Ag contains alginate, it may assist in supporting the control of minor bleeding in superficial wounds. This product can also be used under compression bandages. Melgisorb Ag may be used in the management of infected wounds or wounds in which there is an increased risk of infection under the medical supervision of a healthcare professional. Melgisorb Ag is indicated for external use only.

Contraindications

Do not use on patients and/or user with a known hypersensitivity to the ingoing materials/components of the product.

Aquacel Ag+ Extra
Convatec

Aquacel Ag+ Extra

Soft, sterile non-woven dressing made from two layers of 1.2% ionic silver-impregnated Hydrofiber; sodium carboxymethylcellulose and enhanced with More Than Silver antibiofilm technology, stitched together with cellulose-strengthening fibres. Absorbs wound fluid, and disrupts and breaks down biofilm to expose and kill bacteria, while preventing biofilm re-formation. Provides nine times stronger tensile strength and 50% greater absorption than Aquacel Ag.

Cutimed Siltec Sorbact B
Essity

Cutimed Siltec Sorbact B

A sterile, bacteria and fungi binding wound dressing with a DACC Contact layer combined with a foam and a silicone adhesive border.

Exufiber Ag+
Mölnlycke

Exufiber Ag+

A sterile, soft nonwoven dressing, pad or ribbon, made of highly absorbent and gel-forming polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) fibres coated on both sides with silver sulphate. Exufiber Ag+ has high absorption and retention capacity of wound exudate and maintains a moist wound environment. The structural integrity of Exufiber Ag+ supports removal in one piece. In contact with liquid, Exufiber Ag+ releases silver ions and inactivates a variety of wound related pathogens such as bacteria, fungi and moulds, as has been shown in vitro. By reducing the number of microorganisms, Exufiber Ag+ can prevent and reduce the formation of bacterial biofilm, as shown in vitro and in vivo. Exufiber Ag+ can be used as an effective barrier against microbial penetration of the dressing.
Mepilex Border Ag
Mölnlycke

Mepilex Border Ag

A 5 layer, soft silicone foam dressing that absorbs exudate, maintains a moist wound healing environment and has antimicrobial properties. Mepilex Border Ag contains silver sulphate to create an effective bacterial barrier and inactivate a wide range of wound related pathogens (bacteria and fungi), as shown in vitro. By reducing the number of microorganisms, Mepilex Border Ag may also reduce odour. Mepilex Border Ag consists of a Safetac soft silicone wound contact layer, an absorbent polyurethane foam pad containing silver sulphate and coloured by activated carbon, a layer with super absorbent fibres, a nonwoven and a breathable and water proof film. Safetac is a proprietary adhesive technology developed by Mölnlycke that minimises pain to patients and trauma to intact skin or wounds. Mepilex Border Ag has been shown to inactivate wound related pathogens up to 7 days in vitro.
Mepilex Border Sacrum Ag
Mölnlycke

Mepilex Border Sacrum Ag

A Bordered Sacrum Foam dressing that consists of a a soft silicone wound contact layer (Safetac), which is a unique adhesive technology which minimises pain to patients and trauma to wounds and the surrounding skin at dressing removal. An absorbent polyurethane foam pad containing silver sulphate and coloured by activated carbon, a layer with super absorbent fibres, a non woven and a breathable and water proof film. Silver sulphate creates an effective bacterial barrier and inactivate a wide range of wound related pathogens (bacteria and fungi), as shown in vitro. By reducing the number of micro organisms, it may also reduce odour. Mepilex Border Sacrum Ag has been shown to inactivate wound related pathogens up to 7 days in vitro.
Mepilex Heel Ag
Mölnlycke

Mepilex Heel Ag

A soft silicone foam dressing with silver, intended to be used on infected wounds or wounds at risk of infection with low to moderate amounts of wound fluid on the heel. With Safetac Technology, it adheres gently to the skin without sticking to the wound bed, minimising pain and trauma during dressing changes. This feature is particularly beneficial for patients with sensitive or fragile skin who have acute or hard-to-heal wounds at all healing stages. Mepilex Heel Ag provides up to 7 days of antimicrobial protection with silver sulphate, helping reduce odour and infection risk. Mepilex Ag can be used under compression bandaging. Mepilex Ag has also been shown to inactivate wound related pathogens, up to 7 days in vitro.
