A soft, highly absorbent, sterile, single use dressing made of calcium sodium alginate fibres. It creates a gel on contact with exudate or solutions containing saline. It does not adhere to the wound site upon removal when gelled and absorbs and retains wound exudate and has an haemosatic ability. Absorbent Alginate Dressing is highly absorbent, with a liquid absorption capacity of not less than 10 g/g. Absorbs large amounts of wound fluid. Forms a protective gel to support healing. Conforms to the wound bed and maintains contact. Supports autolytic debridement. Biocompatible and easy to remove in one piece.
Moderately to heavily exuding wounds, such as pressure ulcers, venous and arterial ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, postoperative wounds, dermal lesions and other traumatic woundsAbsorbent Alginate Dressing is intended for clean wounds and supports wound healing. It is intended only for superficial wounds involving the epidermis and superficial dermis.
Not indicated for dry wounds, third-degree burns or surgical implantation. Should not be used on heavily bleeding wounds.
