Melgisorb Ag
Mölnlycke

Melgisorb Ag

A highly absorbent, sterile, non woven, antimicrobial pad composed of a high G (guluronic acid) calcium alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), and an ionic silver complex (Silver Sodium Hydrogen Zirconium Phosphate) which releases silver ions in the presence of wound exudate. As wound exudate is absorbed the alginate forms a gel, which aids autolytic debridement, whilst maintaining a moist environment for optimal wound healing. The gel ensures intact removal, without damage to healing tissue. The silver ions released in the presence of wound exudate are an effective antimicrobial agent against a broad spectrum of microorganisms frequently associated with the bacterial colonisation and infection of wounds, for up to twenty-one (21) days, based on in-vitro testing. Melgisorb Ag can also reduce the odour of infected wounds as a result of its effective antimicrobial properties. Melgisorb Ag is an effective barrier to penetration by microorganisms. As the Melgisorb Ag contains alginate, it may assist in supporting the control of minor bleeding in superficial wounds. This product can also be used under compression bandages.
Melgisorb Plus
Mölnlycke

Melgisorb Plus

A soft, highly absorbent, sterile, single use dressing made of calcium sodium alginate fibres. It creates a gel on contact with exudate or solutions containing saline. It does not adhere to the wound site upon removal when gelled and absorbs and retains wound exudate and has an haemosatic ability. Absorbent Alginate Dressing is highly absorbent, with a liquid absorption capacity of not less than 10 g/g. Absorbs large amounts of wound fluid. Forms a protective gel to support healing. Conforms to the wound bed and maintains contact. Supports autolytic debridement. Biocompatible and easy to remove in one piece.
Mepilex Border Ag
Mölnlycke

Mepilex Border Ag

A 5 layer, soft silicone foam dressing that absorbs exudate, maintains a moist wound healing environment and has antimicrobial properties. Mepilex Border Ag contains silver sulphate to create an effective bacterial barrier and inactivate a wide range of wound related pathogens (bacteria and fungi), as shown in vitro. By reducing the number of microorganisms, Mepilex Border Ag may also reduce odour. Mepilex Border Ag consists of a Safetac soft silicone wound contact layer, an absorbent polyurethane foam pad containing silver sulphate and coloured by activated carbon, a layer with super absorbent fibres, a nonwoven and a breathable and water proof film. Safetac is a proprietary adhesive technology developed by Mölnlycke that minimises pain to patients and trauma to intact skin or wounds. Mepilex Border Ag has been shown to inactivate wound related pathogens up to 7 days in vitro.

Mepilex Border Comfort

Bordered, 5 layer, self-adherent, absorbent foam dressing. Can be used for treatment as well as prevention and can be used under compression bandaging. The 5 layers are; 1) a soft silicone wound contact layer (Safetac), which is a unique adhesive technology which minimises pain to patients and trauma to wounds and the surrounding skin at dressing removal. Layers 2,3,4) make up a flexible absorbent pad which consist of a polyurethane foam and a non-woven spreading layer and a layer with super absorbent polyacrylate fibres. Flex cut technology within these layers allows the dressing to conform to even the most challenging of anatomies. Fluid is spread effectively within the dressing, maximising exudate management and may be left in place up to 7 days. 5) an outer polyurethane film which is vapour permeable and waterproof. The waterproof outer layer protects the wound from dirt and bacteria.
